Dear Musers Who Matter,

A while back, fellow Muser Phyllis Giglio, proud mother of 12 children, sent me the devotional below. I think it warrants sharing with you. Thank you, Phyllis. :)

Blessings,

MaryAnn

TRUST IN THE LORD
by Phyllis Giglio

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” Prov.3:5-7 NIV

Dear fellow scribe,

This summer I took a week’s vacation from writing and spent it with my family at Nags Head, NC. While there, I accomplished something that I always wanted to do. In fact, it was on my rather short list entitled. “Things to do before I die...”

The feat was not very difficult, young kids and old kids can do it... Yet I lacked the skill to do what I so desired to do. Can’t guess what it was? No? Okay then I will tell you.

For the first time in my seventy-six years I actually was able to get a kite up in the air and even keep it there. “Big deal” you may be saying. Well, for me it was a very big deal. What a thrill! I felt a huge sense of accomplishment that morning as I watched my kite rise higher and higher. I felt like the kite was flying me. For a moment in time on that windswept beach, my kite and I were one.

Then as I am often wont to do, I began to see the spiritual aspect of this adventure. It was a visual experience of reaching out to God. My kite was not very large or powerful; it didn’t need to be. The One who held it up in the air held all the power and might in the universe.

I realized that the same God Who held my kite in the sky holds the planets in place. I came to the beach with my kite and my hopes, and He did the rest. I realized if I come to Him with my kite, my book, or my story, and commit it to Him, He has the power to make it fly, or even find a publisher. Why should we struggle in our own meager strength and lean on our own limited understanding when we have the power of the universe available to us?

I'm painfully late in reading this, but it's so perfect for my day today -- a day that sees me on the verge of entering the general market and fighting the voice of the enemy. Thanks for sharing it!
