Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Most of us are familiar with Psalm 139 where our Heavenly Father tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully" made. That word "fearfully" means "awesomely". See! All of you Musers are AWESOME! :)
As I was pondering this Scripture verse this past weekend, I thought about how it relates to our writing. Each of us on this blog has been called by God to write. But each of us has been called to a unique aspect of writing.
Some of us write for children; others of us write for teens; and still others of us write for adults. Some of us write for women; others of us write for men. Some of us write novels, short stories, or screenplays; others of us write articles or biographies or essays. Some of us have been called to write poetry.
Scripture tells us that each of us has a spiritual gift to be used in the Body of Christ for the building of the Body. I think the same principle of unique gifting can be applied to us as writers. Each of us has a unique gift for writing in a particular genre. When we write according to our unique gifting, we will create works that bless and inspire, and we will be fulfilling our place in the body of God's writers.
What is your unique writing gift? If you haven't discovered it yet, I encourage you to do so. How? Try different kinds of writing. Pay attention to what comes most naturally, to what gives you the greatest joy. This will be the kind of writing that is your primary writing call.
Once you've discovered it, put your whole heart into it. As you do, not only will you be fulfilled as a writer, but you will also bring great joy to your Heavenly Father's heart.
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,
MaryAnn

Awesome, Dr. Maryann - just awesome!!!
HI MaryAnn...
When we look at our different gifts from your perspective, there's no need to compare ourselves to others. I used to do that, but I realize that God has gifted me one way and others according to His plan for them. Besides, life would be very boring if we all wrote the same things in the same way.
I also like your idea of trying new genres. Stretching ourselves is always a good thing. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and for encouraging us in so many ways.

I have recently discovered my gift for writing inspirational fantasy. That's what my writing partner has told me. It must be true because when I write in that genre, it just flows. It's a total joy.
I still enjoy writing for children and will continue to do that. But writing fantasy is what I'll be concentrating more on in the future.
