Dreaming Big
"If you don't dream big, nothing big will ever happen to you." - Pam Halter
When I read this awesome quote by our very own Pam Halter, quoted in an equally awesome interview with Pam, I knew I had the topic for today's blog. Thank you, Pam!
Dreaming. It's something we used to do naturally as children. We'd dream of growing up and becoming an astronaut, or a fireman, or the president of the United States. Dreams back then seemed possible.
But something sad happened along the way. We grew up. Disappointed and disillusioned with the "realities" of life, we put our dreams on the shelf or, maybe even trashed them.
But what is life without dreams? God tells us so when He says that without a dream, we will die (Proverbs 29:18). Oh, probably not physically, but psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually.
What dream have you given up on? Isn't it time to dust it off and put it in front of you again?
Dreaming is a sign of faith. When we don 't dream, we are in unbelief. We do not trust God to bring to pass the dream that He Himself placed within us.
One of the things I loved most about Pam's interview (see below) is that she'd always wanted to take tap dancing lessons. And now, as a grandmother, she is fulfilling that dream! Brava, Pam!
As long as you are still alive, it is never too late to rekindle your dream. So stir up the gift that is in you (2 Timothy 1:6). Grab hold of your dream today, and never let it go again.
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)

To which I add: AMEN!!
Hi MaryAnn and Pam....
Enjoyed Pam's interview and and her encouragement to dream big. I agree with both of you that no matter now old we are, we can still accomplish our dreams if we don't give up. With God, all things are possible. As we approach a new year, this is a good time to encourage each other to write with a passion to spread the good news. Let's dream big for 2008.
My son's friend emailed me from Paris, France yesterday morning. She's only 23 years old and believes she has nothing to look forward to after the holidays when she returns to Paris after vacation here at home.
She is a dancer, and her dreams took her there, but now she has lost them. I hope you don't mind, but I sent her your message today because we all need to fan the flame and keep the dreams God places in our hearts alive.
They are like pieces to a puzzle that only He can assemble to create His masterpiece. It is our responsibility to exercise the talents He gives us so He can strategically use them to His glory.

Dear MaryAnnFellow Musers,
This is exactly what the Lord has been moving me towards. I've been in a very long writing hiatus born of overload and self-doubt. However, today I am kick-starting myself (stirring up the gift!) and have just signed up for a 6-week Writers Digest Workshop on "Writing to Inspire", with Jerry B. Jenkins' book "Writing for the Soul" as the textbook. Please pray for me.
