Your World View Matters

December 26, 2007

I heard a tragic story on last night's news about a three-hour-old baby who was left to die in a dumpster. Fortunately, some teenage boys who were skateboarding nearby heard the baby cry, called 911, and saved the infant's life.

The story deeply grieved me. I began to wonder what could prompt a mother to abandon her baby in a dumpster. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that we live in an age that devalues human life. If life is expedient, then we can do what we want with it.

How far we've come from the Biblical world view that says each life is precious and created by God with a purpose (Psalm 139). We who know this truth must get it out there. We weren't given the writing gift for our own pleasure. We were given the writing gift to work with God in bringing the lost into His Kingdom.

What are you going to do with your writing gift in 2008? Let me suggest that you find out where God is moving in your community, and then join Him there with your pen in hand.

And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :-)

Blessings,

MaryAnn

Hi MaryAnn...
A great message at the start of a new year. We need that prodding once in a while. We should make time to write regardless of how busy we are. People need to hear the Word. I still haven't checked to see if any local papers would use poetry or devotional messages, but I think it would be a good idea for everyone on the blog to consider something along those lines. I'll ask Janet Alario my accountability partner to keep prodding me. Happy New Year to you all.

Mary Ann, May you know a blessed 2008. Thank you for reminding us that our ability is a gift and not always something we can just use when we want. I appreciate your musings so much and you have blessed me in 2007. Thank you .

MaryAnn, thank you so much for all you share with us. It has been a blessing to me to read week after week that our writing is a gift. For so long I viewed it as either talent or lack of it. Now I'm inspired to seek the Lord for what He wants me to do with the gift He's given me.

Thank you, MaryAnn! The Lord has already given me notice to finish my book in the coming year and send it in after getting it vetted by critique partners. Not only that, but to finish the album I wanted to finish this year, but was prevented from completing.

May the Lord give each of us not only the willingness to write, but the message He wants out there and the place to publish it. Blessed 2008, everyone!
