Writing by the Calendar
If you're looking for writing ideas, you need go no farther than your calendar. Throughout the year, holidays abound, both domestic and international. In fact, almost every day of the year celebrates some event in some part of the world.
These holidays are often listed on your calendar and are a valuable source of ideas. Yet most writers continually write about Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Valentine's Day, often encountering rejections because editors are swamped with articles on this events. Why not choose some lesser known or unknown holidays and write about them?
A great resource for learning about lesser holidays is Chase's Calendar of Events. Published annually, this book is chock full of information on holidays not only in the United States, but also throughout the world.

And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
