Seeing the Unseen
Scripture admonishes us to "fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen" (2 Corinthians 4:18). Unfortunately, however, we writers usually do the opposite. We fix our eyes on what is seen, not on the unseen. As a result, we never see the seen fulfilled in our lives.
What does it mean to fix our eyes on the unseen? Simply put, it means to fix our spiritual eyes on God's promises instead of fixing our physical eyes on our circumstances.
So how does this relate to our writing? In very significant ways.
For example, what do you do when you receive a rejection? Do you focus on the seeming failure? Or do you view the rejection as another step closer to acceptance? If you focus on the failure, you are looking at the seen. If you focus on the now closer acceptance, you are looking at the unseen.
The unseen is the realm of faith. It is the realm beyond the reach of the five physical senses. It is the realm of the possible that defies the impossible.
To limit our vision to the sense realm is to limit the power of God in our lives, for God is a Spirit and of the spirit realm. If you want to begin seeing the unseen in your writing, choose to look beyond the seen into the realm where all things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23).
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,
MaryAnn

Hi MaryAnn....
I have learned to focus on the unseen and have been blessed by God so many times.
I love when God has had an editor write me saying that he saw my work elsewhere and wants to use it. So I keep plugging away, sending new things out, plus lots of reprints, and in God's perfect timing I get some acceptances. I love the expression, wait expectantly.
Being positive keeps me from getting discouraged.
Thanks MaryAnn for this timely message. I have been waiting for my phone to ring off the hook and instead it seems cemented to the wall. Since I mailed out invites to my first book singing I have had a single response but God has given me now two reminders to be encouraged, yours and Joel Osteen's and utltimately I need to remain mindful that my work is intended to glorify Him.
Thanks again and thanks to Janet for recommending this site.

Sometimes, I handle rejections pretty well. I shrug my shoulders and say, well, it's your loss and get it back in the mail.
Sometimes, I cry.
But I always keep going. I have to. If I stop submitting, I'll never get published. What would be the use in writing then?
