Writing for the Web
One of the fastest growing writing markets is the worldwide web. Requests for writers to write web content are exploding as more and more businesses and individuals acquire a web presence. Not only that, but web writing is one of the most lucrative writing markets as well.
Web writing is different in many ways from other types of writing. First of all, web writers must take into consideration something called Search Engine Optimization, more commonly referred to as SEO. This means that a writer who writes for the web must include those important key words that someone searching the web would most likely use in his search.
For example, suppose you are hired to write a web article on how to choose a Christian school for your child. To help your reader easily find the website for which you are writing, you would include key words like school, education, Christian, curriculum, childhood, and other such words related to your topic. These are the words that someone looking for information on how to choose a Christian school would use in his search. As you write, ask yourself what words you yourself would use to look up the topic. Then include those words in several places in your article.
Another difference in web writing is that sentences and paragraphs are generally shorter not only because of space limitations but also because of time. Web readers often scan before they read. The shorter your article, the more likely the reader will read it.
If you are interested in writing for the web, I would direct you to the following places where you can get writing gigs. Please bear in mind that these are secular sites:
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,

Thanks MaryAnn, for the info. I've been meaning to look into this further, so you saved me a little time! Many blessings to you and your readers:-)
Thank you SO MUCH!!!!! I have been praying for a way to earn some money while still searching for my missing children's book ms (I moved), and perhaps this is it. I'm adding those links to my favorites and looking into them tomorrow, God willing. (I would tonight, but it's tomorrow already, and I think better after sufficient rest.) God bless you!
