Writing from a Place of Revelation
There is the LOGOS word, and there is the RHEMA word. What is the difference?
The LOGOS word is the Word of God as we read it or hear it preached. The RHEMA word is the word of God that jumps out at us and causes us to say, "Aha! Now I see!"
The RHEMA word marks an epiphany. A moment in which we are given a special revelation by Holy Spirit, a glimpse into the eternal in a way that deeply touches us and defines our writing.
Most of our writing is based on the LOGOS. But there are times in our writing life when we need the RHEMA word, when we need a special revelation. In these times, we need to put aside our writing and seek the face of God.
Sometimes a RHEMA word will come when we are not actively seeking it. Yet it will be just as powerful and just as effective when applied to our writing.
Remember, however, that we must not focus on hearing God. We must focus on God. When we do, hearing Him will come naturally.
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,
MaryAnn

I never knew the difference, so I'm happy to have learned something today.
I love the "a ha" moments, too. Just when you think, well, I've read this before, here comes an epiphany that makes you see the passage with new eyes. Very cool.
The very reason why it is known as "The Living Word of God." No matter how many times I read the Bible, I'm amazed at how timely certain verses are to our specific needs. The enlightenment He gives us comes with growth and our ability to see Him through the purity of a child's eyes. May the scales fall freely...
So true! We need both. We may not need the "aha" moments daily, but we do need that spiritual food every day! I am praying for people I know who have just started reading the scriptures to have some of those rhema moments, for guidance in their lives. God bless all of you for sharing about this!
Dear MaryAnn, I learned something new, too! Thanks for being such a wonderful teacher. I had an epiphany at your last comment--we must not focus on hearing God. We must focus on God. When we do, hearing Him will come naturally.
Since I have been seeking God's voice, esp. in the area of my writing, this month, I will take these words to heart and focus more on Him!

Good Morning, MaryAnn...
I love those "Aha" moments. I had my first one twenty-three years ago, two years after I had surrendered my life to Christ. At that time, I didn't understand what happened. I was reading the Bible during my quiet time when a scripture seemed to pop off of the page. It pertained to what I had been praying for. I told the woman who was leading our Bible study what happened and she said I should memorize the words and hold onto them. Being newly "born again," I did as she told me, and through the years God has continued to fulfill the scripture's message. "Aha" moments, as you know, are not a regular occurence, but it is exciting when they do occur. Thanks for reminding us of the difference.
