February 29, 2008

As we celebrate Leap Year today, let's leap :) for joy at our fellow Musers who are making waves for Jesus with their writing. Congratulations, Musers!!! Here are your writing kudos for February:

Fran Pasch
I have a poem in the March issue of “Evangel, a devotion in the Lenten issue of RevWriter Resource, a devotion in the March/April issue of “The Upper Room,” and I just received a copy of my poem that is in the May issue of “Purpose.”

I have some other submissions out there. Still waiting to hear.

Thanks for keeping us accountable.

I've started the second book in my fantasy trilogy.
I attended a retreat weekend in January.
I'm getting ready for Mt. Hermon!
I have already talked with the agent I'm hoping to sign with and made an appointment with her while we're at Mt. Hermon.
I have a writing opportunity, and I've prayed about it, did some research, and decided it's not something I can, or should, do right now. While that was going on, I got another opportunity and am looking to see if it's something I can handle. Life is very busy with babysitting my granddaughter, sewing costumes for my younger daughter's high school play and teaching Pioneer Club at church. I need time to work on my WIPs, so I have to discern what to do and what to let go.

This month I had a thrilling first experience as a writer when my daughter Gina and I both had articles in the same publication! Gina's article is entitled "Parents Are Not Hazardous to Your Health" and appears in the February issue of A Time to Love. Here is the link: http://www.atimetolovemag.com/opedcolumns/108

My article is entitled "Are You Directionally Challenged?" and appears in the same issue of A Time to Love. Here is the link: "Are You Directionally Challenged?".

--I also wrote 12 devotionals on assignment for God's Word for Today.

--My article entitled "Your Writing Portfolio" was published in Sprouts, the magazine of the New Jersey Chapter of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators of which I am a member.

--My article on writing fiction appeared in the in Jan/Feb issue of Cross & Quill.

--Two of my articles on writing were accepted by Shades of Romance Magazine.

--I made considerable progress on my novel, SICILIAN SUNRISE.

If you didn't get your news to me, please post it in the comments.

Dear MaryAnn and Gina~

Great articles! What a blessing to be published simultaneously!

My first book was published this month, and now I'm helping to edit a book for the educational market.

My goals for March are:
Complete an old project.
Read two writing books.

Spend time re-evaluating my annual and long-term goals for writing.
