A Disclaimer

April 09, 2008

Well, Monday's blog entry certainly drew some very interesting responses, both public and private. One of the responses made me realize that some of you grossly misunderstood my position regarding our government and our society.

While this is not a political blog, I feel it necessary to clarify my position toward our President. First of all, I want to make it clear that I support President Bush in his decision to go into Iraq, and I agree with him that Saddam Hussein had to be apprehended. It is my opinion that our president is acting in our country's best interests, and I think that those who criticize him may not be seeing the whole picture. Has anyone noticed that we haven't had a terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11? That surely says something for President Bush and his military strategy.

Second, when I spoke about "agendas", I was referring to the liberal agenda that seeks to undermine the Judeo-Christian heritage on which our country was founded. As Christian writers, we need first of all to understand our country's Christian heritage. We need to study the Founding Fathers and learn what they really believed, not what liberal professors are teaching about them in our major universities or the liberal media says about them.

Finally, if we are going to write to our culture, we need to understand what is happening in our culture and how we got to be where we are now. A good resource for learning the true origins of our country is a work called The American Covenant.

Thanks to all of you who responded. I appreciate your musings. They really do matter! :)

Blessings,

MaryAnn

Hi Mary Ann -

Thanks for your article.

One of the things which troubles me most is the re-writing of our history. Much of the truth is ignored, or worse, buried in the opinions of man.

It's time for people to seek out the truth concerning our Godly heritage instead of relying on what others say. Verify information from the original sources.

That's my 2 cents for today.

Thank you, MaryAnn! I completely agree with your post on Monday and wanted to share something with you. Right after I read your post, I was having some Bible time. I just happen to be in II Cor. right now,and these verses jumped out at me: II Cor.4:3-4. I thought WOW! That goes along with the post I just read! Thanks for the reminders of our Christian duties. Blessings, Patti

Dear MaryAnn, I am catching up on back posts after being in Florida last week. I had to go back and read yesterday's post after seeing the headline for today! I had just made the same statement to my husband after watching a news program tonight about at least we haven't had any more attacks on US soil since 9-11. Altho I don't agree with everything President Bush does, I do support him as our president and believe America has to do all we can to stop terrorism now or pay a greater price later. thanks for all your thought provoking articles. rose
