A Word from Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss remains one of my favorite authors for children. Recently, I came across a verse of his below that, in my opinion, is one of the greatest quotes of all time:
Today you are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You.
What a great verse! Packed with a profound truth that it would do well for us to ponder.
Let me ask you a few questions.
Are you in touch with your "youness"? If so, do you appreciate it? Value it? Nurture it?
Your "youness" is part of your "writerness". When you know who YOU are, then you will know who YOU THE WRITER are.
So, to paraphrase Dr. Seuss:
Today You can write, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who can write just like You.
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,
MaryAnn

What a wonderful reminder of the fact that God created each of us for a special "assignment." He is the Ultimate Editor!
How true!
I am 77 and I think I lived unhappily for a good part of my life trying to be something other than me. Like Vie said we are created to b be who we really are.
I just read this and the comments to Mom, and we both agree what a wonderful musing this is! One thing our pastor out in CA always says is that if we're still here on earth, God isn't finished with us yet. When our job on earth is done, we're out of here! Until then, we're supposed to be doing whatever God has called us to do. In our cases, that means writing! May the Lord give us the strength and the will for the work! :-)
My personal slogan is "I was chosen on purpose for a purpose." This really helps me remember how very unique I truly am.
Blessings to all my fellow YOUs out there!

I do not like you Mary Ann.
I do not like you saying I can.
I do not like you in my space.
I do not like you in my face.
I do not like me being true.
I do not like me being "you."
I do not like to write like me.
I do not like responsibility.
I do not like me on the keys,I do not like when I have brain freeze. I do not like it if it's good. I do not think I'm understood. But I keep going as you can see because I care about being me.I really like you Mary Ann because you've always said I can. I really am "Youer than you" Dr. Seuss said it, it must be true.
I really like you Mary Ann, so I'll keep writing because I can.

The day my daughter completed her student teaching, her mentor read aloud Dr. Seuss' book, Oh the Places You Will Go. The words were as perfect for my grown daughter as they were for the room full of second graders. I was there for the occasion and could hardly contain my emotions. Has anyone read that book recently?? How wonderfully, simply profound. Thanks Dr. MaryAnn, you are a keeper.
Hi Everyone....Thanks, MaryAnn for another great message. I thoroughly enjoyed all the responses, especially Jim's poem. I've said before that there were times when I felt intimidated by the accomplishments of others. But now, I have more self-confidence and try to follow the plan that God is showing me for my writing. We are each different, and that's the great part about it. How boring it would be if we all were alike. Be the best "You" that God created you to be. Happy Writing!
Thanks, Mary Ann, for a great post. Each of us are a curious mixture of God's giftings, our parents, all those who poured into our lives, and our experiences. As we allow Him to weave all those threads together, a unique and beautiful picture comes forth.
Blessings,
Susan

I have often remarked to people that no one, but no one, can write what God has asked me to write. Some understand and some do not . . . especially those who want me to do something and I can't because I need time to write.
