Conference Notes

Thanks to fellow Muser Who Matters, John Riddle, for an impressive Delaware Christian Writers' Conference. As a seasoned writer, I normally attend conferences as a faculty member. But this time I went as a student, something I insist on doing at least once a year to keep myself sharpened.

The lineup of teachers was great. Storyteller Steven James spoke on creativity and story. His sessions alone were worth the price and the trip. Then, Michelle Medlock Adams spoke on essential characteristics of a writer and how to manage the writing life--all based on chocolate :).

While I was able to attend only the Friday sessions, I left feeling intellectually and professionally satisfied. While the Conference is geared toward beginners (there were no editors or agents present), it had something to offer to anyone who was looking for it. As I wrote on my evaluation sheet, it is a conference that "plants seeds of success to be cultivated by any writer who wants to do so."

And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
