Trials As Chariots

April 23, 2008

Hannah Whitall Smith, author of The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life, writes that "our trials may be our chariots", driving us to greater blessings.

Trials come to all of us. It's what we do with those trials that makes the difference between whether or not we grow as Christians. Some trials are more fiery than others; but all trials will either push us toward Christ or away from Him.

The writing life brings many trials, including a lot of rejection, but it also brings many blessings. But often we cannot experience the blessings unless we first go through the trials.

What trials are you facing today? Find the "chariot" they ride. Then let that chariot take you to victory in Jesus.

And that's my "musing that matters' for today. What's yours? :)

Blessings,

MaryAnn

Great reminder, MaryAnn -- especially during a week in which I feel as though the wheels have come off the chariot. But I do feel these trials are making me run to Jesus more, and that's a good thing.

God is still using Hannah Whithall Smith! Her words, penned so many years ago, are still blessing people. Like Sherri, I had a wheel blow out last night on a writing project that I just want finished! I went to bed frustrated, but God blessed me with scripture this morning that had me quickly repairing that wheel and rejoining the race. (Then I opened Musings, and MaryAnn spoke to my heart, again.)

Mary Ann, We all know that the trials are what help us to grow, but that doesn't mean I have to like the ride. :-) Thank you for your comments today about our trials being our "chariots' and our victory being in Jesus. Being reminded of what we already know is often so important. You did that for me today. Thanks.
