Expelled!
This past weekend, my husband, daughter, and I went to see Ben Stein's movie/documentary entitled EXPELLED! In my opinion, this is a 'must see" movie, particularly for Christians.
The story is that of Ben Stein's interviews with the top scientists in the world on the issue of Intelligent Design vs. Evolution. Stein traces the roots of Nazism to Darwin's Theory of Evolution and proposes (and proves, I believe) that this same theory has insidiously infiltrated our country and is producing results similar to what occurred in pre-Hitlerian Germany.
Stein's documentary is a prime example of what one person/writer with a vision can do to impact the world for good. Perhaps some of you are called to screenwriting. Screenwriting doesn't refer only to the movies we see at the theatre. Screenwriting covers a whole host of writing, including documentaries, video scripts, and other kinds of film productions.
I don't want to sound like an alarmist, dear writers, but I think we have reached the eleventh hour. Let's take a stand with our pens before it is too late. Not only are our children and grandchildren counting on us, but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is also doing so.
Blessings,
MaryAnn

I keep hearing about Ben Stein's documentary but I've yet to see it. Thank you for your encouragement for those of us writing screenplays. This month I'm taking part in www.ScriptFrenzy.org (write 100 pages of script in April). What a great learning experience! I am way behind on my page count and am running out of days in April! However, one screenplay I have in my brain and really, really, really want to write is a documentary on a Christian subject. I'm a beginner as far as writing screenplays, so I've purchased software, books, and went googling to learn how to write one, and do you know I haven't found a single resources that teaches how to write a documentary?! No matter. I'm doing it anyway and will figure out the proper format later! (For readers who are the praying type, please pray I can get many pages written this weekend!)
Dear MaryAnne,
My husband and I went to see "Expelled" the other day. It was an extrodinary, thought provoking film well worth taking the time to see! Thank you for bringing this informative movie to our attention. Laraine
My dh and I saw the film the first night, and were amazed at how impactful it was. The majority of the people ssshhhhhd the people in the theater who squirmed in their seats & grumbled giving a standing ovation upon its completion.
Since two of our children are attending grad school studying science, we emphasized the importance of their seeing the film. Sadly, as Mr. Stein mentioned, evolution is crammed down their throats without a second thought given to Intelligent Design. How brilliant and courageous he is to approach our youth and the mainstream with God's Truth. I pray we are all receptive to and bold in gaining awareness through our respected venues. An excellent read is "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" by Dr. Paul Brand and Philip Yancey. Also, thanks to MaryAnn's suggestion in coaching, I took a teriffic course from the "Write Your Story" course online, which teaches a segment on screen writing, Happy writing!
Great movie! A must see. Next time...with popcorn. :-D
Thanks for the reminder, maryann. several friends have recommended this film to us and there is an excellent article about it in world Magazine (you can check it out online, too.) I also highly recommend the book janet mentioned--Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

As you can glean from my previous posts, a writer is something I ain't! But I are good at spotting a genius, and, in my humble but accurate opinion, Ben Stein is a genius. This is a "must see" and I encourage all to do so.
