Writing in the Now
Recently, our Lord has been teaching me more and more about living in the now. As I prepared to write today's blog entry, I heard the words "Writing in the Now".
An interesting topic, but what does it mean?
I asked God. He said that writing in the now is taking the writing opportunity at hand and running with it. While the opportunity may not be what we would have chosen, it is a stepping stone on the road to fulfilling His writing destiny for us.
Each opportunity is a link in the chain that leads to our ultimate destination in Christ. When we miss opportunities, we miss a link in the chain. The chain then either weakens or breaks.
But as we listen to and obey the Holy Spirit, we will not miss any links in the chain, whether in our lives or in our writing.
What writing opportunity is in front of you today? Ask God to help you see it for what it really is--a link in the chain of His purpose for your writing life.
And that's my "musing that matters" for today. What's yours? :)
Blessings,
MaryAnn

Thanks for more encouraging advice, maryann. I plan to work on some lessons from a class I took a few months ago to aid in my rewrites. It's one small babystep (link) to my goal of sending the proposal off to a publisher again.
How timely, MaryAnn! I just got all the press materials to interview Keith and Kristyn Getty for Focus on the Family. At first I thought, Well, this wasn't my idea; they asked me to do it. But your blog helps me put it in perspective and take the opportunity to grow as a writer. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I just read this to Mom, who is also a writer. So many times, I think we can wait for "the perfect thing" to come along instead of just writing something! As my critique partner prepares to read a few more chapters of my completed work, I've been making notes for another book while working on a third and fourth which I'd begun previously. I've also started sketching again, preparatory to working on illustrations for my children's book. (I've mislaid my "dummy" ms with illustrations and sample watercolors, along with the manuscript. I'd really love it if y'all would pray with me that I can find them...SOON! Thanks!!) In the meantime, I have been researching writing jobs online, thanks to your excellent suggestion some musings back... So far nothing, but at least I have some leads now!
Please pray with us that Mom and I both will be able to write, and that what we write will sell. We pray for all of you, too! Many thanks, and may the Lord bless all of the words that come from our pens/word processors...
I am just back on line after having a long email "fast" due to a broken modem. I had 300 emails waiting for me. Thank God nothing crucial.
I sent you my wrting piece ,"Rub-aDub_Dub" before I read this dates musing. however I think it is so applicable.

How timely, Mary Ann! I just got an opportunity to send in a writing sample for a Sunday school acvitity book for Christian Focus Publications. I'm excited about it and hope mine gets chosen.
I also have the opportunity to work on this with my friend, Kim Sponaugle, who is a professional illustrator.
Doing this is on my list of goals for the year, which is, "take advantage of writing opportunities."
I got an invite a few months ago for another book series, but I discerned it was not an opportunity but a road block and turned it down. We have to be careful when these things happen and ask the Lord for wisdom.
